CLARE STREET UPGRADE GETS COUNCIL APPROVAL

New Town White Eagles S.C is delighted to announce that the proposed upgrade of the Clare Street Oval facilities was approved by the Hobart City Council on 31st January 2022.

In 2019, the HCC won a $450,000 grant under the Levelling the Playing Field” program with the HCC expected to contribute a further $450,000 of their own funds, with the total project expected to cost in excess of $900,000.

The project will see the demolition of the current public toilet building, and expansion and upgrade to the existing changeroom building to include new public toilets, internal refurbishment of the existing changerooms, development of a second set of changerooms and separate umpires’ facilities which meet the modern standard and allow for a more female friendly environment.

Proposed floor plan for extension and refurbishment of Clare Street Oval amenities

This includes the fantastic home changeroom 2/3 with opening doors, while having a second set of changerooms, it allows male and female matches to occur in succession and provision of a separate space whilst being able to be utilised for other uses.

It is now expected that the plans will go out for tender, with construction mooted to begin mid-2022.

We will be sure to keep everyone informed as we learn more and the project progresses.
